A Greener Future in Focus: First Sustainability Day 2024

Location: Weidhausen

Our first Sustainability Day at the Innovation Center in Weidhausen was a great success! From engaging presentations and insightful plant tours to a relaxed wine tasting – the day offered valuable insights and inspiring conversations about the sustainable film solutions of the future.

On April 10, 2024, we held our first Sustainability Day of the year at our Innovation Center in Weidhausen. Under the motto “Together for a Sustainable Future”, we welcomed numerous customers to discuss the latest developments in thickness-optimized film solutions and their sustainable applications.

The event began with a warm get-together and a welcome speech that set the stage for an informative and interactive day. Ali Barbare opened the presentation series with his talk “Why Sustainability?” in which he highlighted the opportunities and challenges we face today and in the future. His keynote established the tone for a day fully dedicated to sustainability.

Following this, Christian Funk delivered his presentations “Sustainable Together” and “What We Can Do and What We Are Doing,” focusing on the key aspects of sustainable business practices. He demonstrated how reducing the thickness of our Verpalin films by up to 50% helps conserve resources and minimize environmental impact.

Before the coffee break, Martin Kirster offered deeper insights into our advanced production and recycling processes with his presentation “Sustainable Manufacturing.” The coffee break provided participants with an opportunity to network in a relaxed atmosphere, exchange ideas, and enjoy a generous buffet.

Afterwards, the guests were divided into small groups for a guided tour of our Weidhausen facility. The tour included visits to our development lab, production area, and converting department. This direct insight gave attendees the opportunity to see first-hand the sustainability and efficiency of our production processes.

A special highlight was the presentation by Thomas Eidloth from Heinz-Glas, who demonstrated the practical application of our ReLease system. This system allows customers to rent baling presses to compress and store their used films on-site. The compressed films are then collected by us, recycled, and transformed into high-quality regranulate for use in new products.

To conclude the day, Ali Barbare and Dominik Kossakowski presented “Being Better with Verpalin,” showcasing some of our sustainable and innovative Verpalin film solutions. Their presentation illustrated how we actively contribute to a greener future while meeting all customer requirements.

The Sustainability Day ended with a shared dinner and an enjoyable wine tasting, where participants reflected on the day and deepened the insights they had gained. It was a day full of inspiring perspectives, valuable discussions, and new connections.

We sincerely thank all participants and look forward to continuing our journey toward a greener, more sustainable future—together.
