GreenLife Day 2025 in Weidhausen – A Day Full of Ideas, Innovation and Future Energy
On 13 November 2025, our Innovation Workshop in Weidhausen opened its doors for the 7th GreenLife Day – a day dedicated to innovation, sustainability and the future of packaging.
Under the motto “Packaging 4.0 | Innovations for a Sustainable Future” our guests gained a lively insight into the world of Verpalin films – from development and production to recycling and reprocessing. It quickly became clear: interest in sustainable solutions is rising, and topics such as circular economy, new materials and future requirements like the PPWR are shaping the industry more than ever.
Welcome, exchange & key future topics
After a warm get-together, Managing Director Thomas Grebner and Sales Director Christian Funk welcomed our guests. The atmosphere was open, interested and full of anticipation for a day in which knowledge, dialogue and our family-oriented company culture were clearly at the center.
Many took the opportunity to prepare early for new challenges and value Verpa as a reliable and strategic partner at their side.
Verpa: Sustainability as a corporate philosophy
Max Baumann opened our series of presentations with insights into our company history and explained why thickness-reduced, material-saving films are not a short-term trend for us, but have been a core part of our DNA for decades. The advantage is obvious: less material, less CO₂, lower costs – more efficiency for our customers.
GreenLife – when sustainability becomes measurable
Ali Barbare presented the Green Life line using concrete practical examples. His presentation impressively showed how Verpa develops solutions together with customers that combine sustainability and economic efficiency.
Material expertise & technological development
Dipl.-Ing. Martin Kirster explained in practical terms what matters in modern films and which factors are decisive in developing future-oriented and recyclable packaging films.
WILDPLASTIC – circular economy with social added value
A highlight was the presentation by Tim Lampe, Managing Director of WILDPLASTIC GmbH. He showed how environmental plastic collected worldwide is returned to meaningful value creation – an inspiring example of sustainable thinking beyond conventional boundaries.
Factory tour: a look behind the scenes
During the subsequent factory tour, it became clear how much technology, experience and precision go into every Verpalin film.
- In extrusion, guests were able to observe live how impressive film bubbles rise from granulate – produced for each customer according to individual formulations.
- In converting, we demonstrated how films are adapted for various applications and individually processed for each customer.
- In the recycling center, visitors saw how Verpa returns production waste to internal cycles and turns it into high-quality post-industrial regranulate.
Premiere: insight into hollow-chamber sheet production
For the first time, we opened our hollow-chamber sheet production to visitors. These sheets are made of polypropylene, can be used multiple times and are fully recyclable – another step towards circular packaging systems.
Sustainable printing technologies & safe solutions for tomorrow
After the tour, two more insightful presentations followed:
- Nina Lamprecht, Managing Director of Lamprecht GmbH, presented the benefits of solvent-free plate production – a milestone for environmental protection and employee health.
- Dr. Daniel Weiß from Siegwerk Druckfarben provided valuable insights into future requirements for printing inks and explained the role of nitrocellulose in flexible packaging.
Looking into the future: What does the PPWR mean for the industry?
Finally, Dipl.-Ing. Olaf Hegen spoke about the upcoming PPWR, whose exact details are still under negotiation.
Key points of his assessment:
• Requirements will increase – but many aspects are still open.
• Recyclate shortages will be a real challenge.
• Early action and strong partnerships will be essential.
• Solutions must be flexible, efficient and individually adaptable.
The good news: Verpa is already working intensively on the upcoming requirements and is developing solutions that support companies in the long term.
A day full of future perspectives: inspiring, practical and forward-looking
The GreenLife Day ended with an evening event filled with conversations, new impulses and many encounters that highlighted one thing: The future of packaging needs courage, innovation, responsibility and strong partnerships.
The feedback from our guests made it clear: Verpa is exactly this strong partner – sustainable, innovative and forward-looking.
